Our Process

Consultation & Measuring

Every project starts with a conversation. We’ll ask about the space, the intended use, your design preferences, and any functional requirements specific to what you’re building. For projects where fit and proportion matter (cabinetry, built-ins, tables sized to a specific room), we collect on-site measurements during this stage so the design we develop is grounded in the actual dimensions of your space. By the end of the consultation, we have a clear enough picture of your goals to move into design with confidence. From there, we’ll outline next steps and give you a sense of what to expect throughout the rest of the process.

Design & Material Selection

With your goals and measurements in hand, we develop a detailed digital drawing of your piece for review. This stage is collaborative; we walk through the design together, answer questions, and make adjustments until the drawing reflects exactly what you’re looking for. Material selection happens in parallel: wood species, finish, hardware, and base style for woodworking projects; metal type, finish, and structural details for fabrication work. For projects that combine both, we work through all material decisions together before anything is finalized. Nothing moves into production until you’ve reviewed and approved the design in full.

Crafting Your Custom Piece

Once the design is approved and a deposit is confirmed, your project enters our Baltimore workshop. We personally source and hand-select the materials, prepare every component to spec, and build the piece from the ground up, whether that means joinery and finishing for a hardwood table, welding and grinding for a steel railing, or a combination of both for a mixed-material build. We share progress updates at key milestones throughout the build so you’re never left wondering where things stand. Every detail is reviewed against the approved design before we move to the next stage.

Finishing & Installation

When fabrication is complete, we do a thorough review of the finished piece against your approved specs, including the dimensions, finish quality, joinery, and any structural or functional details specific to your project. For pieces that require on-site installation, our team handles delivery and placement directly. We take care of getting every piece into the space, make any final adjustments needed, and walking through the finished work with you before we close out the project. We consider the job complete when everything looks and functions exactly as designed.
