Custom Tables
Custom Table Builder in Baltimore
Whether you need a live-edge dining table for your home, a conference table for your office, or custom restaurant tables built to survive daily use, we design and build them all from our Baltimore workshop. At Soul Crafted Studio, every table starts as a conversation. We work with you to nail down the dimensions, materials, and finish before a single piece of wood is cut. From concept to delivery, our custom design-build process is collaborative, transparent, and built around your vision. Ready to get started? Fill out a contact form, and we’ll be in touch to discuss your project.

How Does Our Custom Table Design Process Work?
We keep the process straightforward so you always know where your project stands. Here’s what to expect from first contact through delivery.

Consultation & Measuring
Everything starts with a conversation. We’ll ask about your space, intended use, preferred materials, and any design references you have in mind. We’ll also collect initial measurements for the piece to help inform every decision that follows. Once we have a clear picture of what you’re looking for, we move into design.

Design & Material Selection
With your measurements and goals in hand, we put together a digital drawing so you can visualize the piece before fabrication begins. This is also when we nail down materials, both the table top and the base. For the top, we’ll walk through wood species, slab options, and finish preferences. For the base, we’ll explore styles and materials (solid wood, steel, or a combination) that suit the overall design.

Crafting Your Custom Table
This is where the work happens. We hand-select materials, mill components to spec, and build your table in our Baltimore workshop. Throughout the build, we share updates so you’re never left wondering about your project’s status. Every joint, finish, and detail is reviewed before we move to delivery.

Delivery & Installation
When your table is complete, we coordinate delivery and handle final placement. We take care of getting your piece into the space, and we’re not done until you’re satisfied.

What Kind of Custom Tables Do We Build?
We build custom tables for homeowners, businesses, restaurants, and design professionals throughout the Baltimore area. If you can picture it, we can build it, and if you’re not sure where to start, we’ll help you figure it out.
- Dining & Live Edge Tables – Live-edge dining tables are one of our most requested builds. Each slab preserves the natural contour and character of the original tree, which means no two tables look exactly alike. Whether you want a bookmatched walnut centerpiece or a clean-lined hardwood dining table, we’ll source the right slab and build around your space.
- Conference & Office Tables – A well-built conference table says a lot about a business. We design and fabricate custom conference tables in a range of sizes, wood species, and base styles, including wood-and-steel combinations for a more contemporary look. If you need integrated cable management or specific dimensions for a tight footprint, we can work those requirements into the build specs from day one.
- Restaurant & Commercial Tables – Durability matters in a commercial setting. Our restaurant and hospitality clients need tables that hold up through years of daily service without sacrificing the look. We build bar tops, dining tables, community tables, and countertops for restaurants, cafes, and retail spaces across the region.
- Coffee Tables & Custom Requests – Not every project fits a standard category, and that’s fine with us. We’ve built everything from oversized coffee tables and entryway consoles to one-of-a-kind pieces that didn’t have a name until we made them. If you have a specific idea or a space that needs something truly custom, reach out through our custom requests page and let’s talk through it.

Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Table Building
What are the best wood species for a custom table?
It depends on the look, the use, and the environment. Walnut is usually the most-requested species, with it having a rich, warm tone and grain that holds up beautifully over time. We also commonly work with maple, cherry, ash, and elm, each of which brings distinct color ranges and grain patterns to a finished piece.
Does Soul Crafted Studio build custom table bases as well as table tops?
Yes, and this is one of the things that sets us apart. We can design and fabricate a custom base in-house, whether that’s a solid wood pedestal, a welded steel frame, or a wood-and-metal combination. For clients who have a specific base style in mind, we can also source from other manufacturers and suppliers. Either way, we’ll help you find the right solution for the overall design.
What’s the difference between a live-edge table and a standard custom table?
A live-edge table preserves the natural contour of the original tree slab, including the organic curves, knots, and grain variations that occur as the tree grows. No two live-edge pieces look exactly alike, which is a big part of the appeal. A standard custom table uses milled, straight-edged lumber and tends toward a cleaner, more uniform look. Both are fully custom; the difference is in the aesthetic.
Does Soul Crafted Studio work with clients outside of the Baltimore area?
Absolutely. While we’re rooted in Baltimore, we work with clients across the U.S. As long as your project aligns with our capabilities and we can work through the design details remotely, distance isn’t a barrier. Many of our out-of-area clients connect with us virtually for the consultation and design stages, then we coordinate delivery once the build is complete.
Can I bring my own design or inspiration images to the consultation?
Please do. Whether you have reference photos, sketches, Pinterest boards, or dimensions, bring whatever helps communicate your vision. The more context we have going into the consultation, the more useful that first conversation will be. We’ll take your inspiration and translate it into build specs and a digital drawing that reflects what you’re actually picturing.
How much does a custom table cost?
Every project is different, so we don’t publish set prices. The cost of a custom table depends on factors like size, wood species, base style, finish, and the complexity of the build. What we can tell you is that we’re upfront about pricing from the start — you’ll receive a detailed quote after your consultation before anything moves forward.
What kinds of custom tables does Soul Crafted Studio build?
We build a wide range of custom tables, including dining tables, live edge tables, conference tables, coffee tables, restaurant and bar tops, entryway consoles, and more. If you have a specific idea that doesn’t fit a standard category, we’re happy to hear it. Some of our favorite builds started as a sketch on a napkin.

Why Work With a Local Baltimore Table Builder?
Working with a local studio means direct access to the people actually building your table. There’s no middleman, no outsourced fabrication, and no guessing about who’s handling your project. Here’s what that means in practice:
- One point of contact from consultation through delivery.
- In-house woodworking and metal fabrication for full design flexibility.
- Local material sourcing, supporting local and domestic hardwood suppliers.
- A collaborative process built around your goals, not a pre-set product catalog.
Our custom furniture services extend well beyond tables, so if your project involves additional pieces, we can bring the same process to the full scope of the build.
Let’s Build Your Custom Table
Custom tables are one of the most personal pieces you can add to a home or business. They’re functional, they’re visible every day, and when they’re built right, they last for decades. At Soul Crafted Studio, we take that seriously from the first sketch to the final delivery.
